The internet and civic engagement

Whether they take place on the internet or off, traditional political activities remain the domain of those with high levels of income and education. That has to do with internet access and affordability. There are hints that forms of civic engagement anchored in blogs and social networking sites could alter long standing patterns that are based on socioeconomic status. In August 2008 33% of internet users have social networking profiles. Those who use blogs and social networking sites as an outlet for civic engagement are far more active in traditional realms of political and nonpolitical participation than are other internet users.

obama wins nobel peace prize

President Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize. Most observers were shocked of the win so soon in his presidency. Most thought he didn't deserve it. I think it is a great honor to win something so special. Everyone who thinks he should've have won are haters. He has done a great job and a way better job than George Bush. Internet access among different groups show that 55% of the population reports using high-speed internet connection when accessing the internet from home. of those users 78% of them were college graduates. 56% of the users are white. 55% of the users are english-speaking hispanics. 41% of the users are black.
